One problem that I’ve come across is SEO and I’ve heard that Google does not recognize my website because of the amount of “%20” in the URL address for my pages. For example:
example.com/CAD%20Drafting%20FAQS.htm
I don’t know how or why but how do I get rid of %20 out of my URL? I used MS FrontPage 2000 to make my website if that makes a difference.
Also my web hosting server is coming up for renewal and I want to change hosting servers. What are some good criteria to use to choose a good provider for the dollar?
I appreciate your help and suggestions. Thank you.

I just bought a plan with Hostgator.com and have found that Backlinks are essentially a must have for any ’serious’ site. How would I go about obtaining some backlinks? (Such as linkmaster.com, but I don’t want to pay)

The nice Tech support guy says that putting meta tags and keywords, and description tags in your website are very helpful to getting traffic to your site. Who’s the liar?
Background in a nutshell. I had lots of hits last month, lots of sales, last month. Then I had to abruptly change my web host. New designer, new site 10 days later, no tags, etc. New site no hits, same SEO’s and marketing. No sales at all. Could it be my new site sucks or my web designer needs a reality check?

I want to advertise(banner type) my new webmaster discussion forum(www.shaise.com) but I’m not sure what is the best category websites to do so. I think its not a good idea to advertise to places with the same thematic. The site is about programming, web designing, hosting, SEO/SEM and related ones. I will be more than happy if you post a detailed info(websites) where I can start doing it. Of course, we talk about paid advertising, not freebies.

I’ve been a web editor for a big radio station for a while now but I’ve never had to do SEO before. Basically they just need to be able to find their site in google and yahoo… There is a “submit to search engine” thing on the web hosts site too.

I heard that backlinks particularly on very high relevance sites will boost my webpage to go up the search results but wonder if this is true.
